The conversations can be tough, and the pace sometimes mimics\nmolasses \u2013 but alliance work offers access to a diverse thinktank, a talent\npipeline, and extraordinary industry professionals. And that makes all the labor\nand investment (and Tylenol) worthwhile.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>Leading the Zigbee Alliance Board of Directors\nis a career highlight for me, and one I step back from but not away from. I\u2019m\nnot ready yet. There\u2019s more good work to be done as the IoT expands into new\nspaces and we embrace and build on existing digital connections. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s been an honor to have served as Board Chairman\nfor six years, and that honor will continue as Emeritus and in the capacity of\nspecial purposes for Alliance business. I\u2019m here to support Bruno as he\ntransitions into his Chairman role and steps up to lead our high-caliber\ncollection of Board Directors. He\u2019s a Zigbee Alliance veteran, a savvy\nstandards exec, and he\u2019ll lead this group forward with poise and purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>As an\nAlliance, we\u2019ve worked hard to bring incredibly influential and innovative\ncompanies together to forge new directions. These ventures include Dotdot and the\nrecently formed Project Connected Home over IP (CHIP). This level of\ncooperation between leading technology giants and market-movers signals a\nsignificant sea change in the overall smart home landscape \u2013 and one that\nrequires a recalibration of commitment and enthusiasm to take business, brands,\nand smart living to the next level. <\/p>\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re all\npointed in a prosperous direction when it comes to standards. The Alliance cry\nfor \u201copen\u201d has echoed in the hallways since 1998 \u2013 and I\u2019m proud to have been\npart of this global tribe during a time when industry set aside differences and\ntoday is coming together under the Zigbee Alliance roof to roll the tremendous\nIoT rock forward.
