Working with Amazon, Apple,\nGoogle and many other prominent Zigbee Alliance members, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.connectedhomeip.com\">Connected Home over IP<\/a> is a Working Group that aims to simplify IoT device development\nfor manufacturers and increase product compatibility for consumers. This is the first step in a monumental\nundertaking and the reward will be shared by consumers and developers in the\nsmart home industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nfuture of the IoT is here \u2013 and innovative companies are putting their hands in\nto help shape this new direction. The Connected Home over IP project will\nsimplify IoT device development for manufacturers and increase product\ncompatibility for consumers as they continue to explore and embrace the smart\nhome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next\nyear will be another period of time where manufacturers and standards leaders survey\nthe best avenue for all, with the goal to complete a draft specification by\nlate 2020 that focuses on making smart homes \u201cjust work.\u201d The message today to\neveryone already invested in current standards is to continue designing and\nbringing your products to market. We\u2019re here to support our flagship standards \u2013\nincluding Zigbee \u2013 and address advancements as they develop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For\nnow, we invite companies within and outside the IoT space to join our charge as\nconnectivity seeps into once-static areas of the home to bring wonder to\neveryday items not previously touched by technology. A great example of markets\ntransformed by tech is in retail, and how a home furnishing leader like IKEA\ncan combine design and imagination to deliver smart home living to everyone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attracting companies to the Alliance such as IKEA, Amazon, Apple and Google is a testament to the important work that\u2019s being done as organizations choose to collaborate and work alongside each other for the betterment of the industry \u2013 and more importantly, the consumer.
